Abstract

Abstract Acute appendicitis is the most frequent disease requiring urgent surgery in the world. Acute appendicitis can sometimes occur in atypical locations such as the left part of the abdomen. Situs inversus totalis is also one of the conditions that create difficulty in diagnosing acute appendicitis. Direct grapy, ultrasonography, computed tomography are the auxiliary radiological methods in the diagnosis of the disease. In direct graphies, one will be suspicions of the disease in case dextrocardia and stomach fundus gaz is observed on the right. It is recommended to provide better exploration and make differential diagnosis and apply laparoscopic surgery thereby considering anatomic variation in the patients with situs inversus. This case presentation discusses the diagnosis and treatment process of the forty-eight year-old female patient with situs inversus who was diagnosed with acute appendicitis after investigating in company with literature.
